In-Person Workshop - InDepth Web profiling with WebPageTest

In this workshop, the attendees will learn in-depth profiling web applications. We will start from a brief intro to existing tooling like flame graphs, lighthouse and various metrics inside Lighthouse and then we will move over to WebPageTest.
We will cover WebPageTest results JSON/ chrome://tracing and timeline views. These are different from the core web vitals score and the film strip view that we usually use.
The tools not only can tell you what is going wrong but can also help you debug all the threads inside Chromium and can help you unearth what is causing all the performance problem.

This workshop will start with the concepts of Flame charts and various metrics that constitute the core web vitals
Then we'll take a look at the following webpage test concepts
- configuration options: what kind of options are available for the apps to be profilled(mobile/ tabs/ various networks etc)
- scripting options: how to debug apps behind login/ a paywall
